Comfy rocks http://www.baekdal.com/Design/Interior-Design/rock-cushions/
Note to the crafty: These are dignified rock cushions in shades of gray, but there are other possibilities. I bet there's machachite-striped cloth out there somewhere, and a truly ambitious person could make a gigantic squodgy geode.

Next time for sure I've noticed that when people talk about getting their asses in gear or getting their lazy asses out of a chair, or any such metaphors, it's pretty much about things they aren't doing.
Is that sort of talking to yourself generally ineffective, or does it work some of the time?

Nudge, nudge, wink, wink is the latest in counter-intelligence http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/01/04/AR2008010403573_pf.html
"Taxi drivers," Redouane el Habab said, referred to suicide bombers; explosives were "dough." Anybody who had to go to "the hospital," he added, had been taken to jail, while those visiting "China" were really attending training camps in Sudan.
Experts said the codes may not appear sophisticated at first glance but can be time-consuming to crack, especially if the targets are conversing in Arabic.
Some of the people quoted in the article seemed surprised that the terrorists are intelligent about avoiding surveillance. I'm hoping the intelligence experts are just trying to convince the world they have a hard job or somesuch. If they're honestly surprised that they have competent opposition, I'm worried.

Alternative ID In the comments for this thread, there's a recommendation of ID from http://www.transnationalrepublic.org/ --the usual reaction if he uses it is for people to mention they've never seen it before, then let him on the plane.

Looking for scanner recommendations What I want is a scanner so I can do a Cafepress shop. I just need it to be a good enough cheap scanner.
Possible candidates: Canon LIDE Canon Canoscan 8400f Flatbed Scanner, if shoplet.com is reliable.
I can't figure out why my current scanner (a Canon 924) produces jagged edges, even at 600 dpi. I got it from ebay. I suspect it came with crippleware, but I can't find the information about the software warning, and even if I could find it, when I did have the name of the software, it wasn't available online and the website it was from no longer exists. It's kind of like those disappearing magic shops from short stories, but much less interesting. I thought I posted about the details, but that post has disappeared, too. What I've learned from this is to get a new scanner from a recognized seller.
