The news cycle Have you been seeing anything in the mainstream media about the pre-emptive arrest of peaceful protest groups?
I've been seeing it all over the parts of the web where I hang out, and then I heard a sketchy little mention on WHYY (my local NPR station) which made it sound as though the police had done something routine and reasonable.

It's not on the front pages, but it is there if you dig. I linked to one example from my post this weekend. CNN buried the story but did run it.

MSM has reports of windows being broken by folks who'd been in the protest group. There's blog reports of attacks on buses (such as dropping a bag of concrete from an overpass). Best criticism I've seen of the cops is by joelrosenberg.

I think the most egregious example was the storming, and I'll call it that since they entered via the attic of the space next door, no warrant, of the I-witness group. http://iwitnessvideo.info/Great! Can't even have a Chai tea and muffin with your friends anymore.
Data point from Europe: not on BBC, but on Al-Jazeera - where Amy Goodman was even name-checked as one of the arrested. The focus was more on the demonstration but there was a mention of pre-emptive arrests.
Crazy(and convinced that's the only sane response in this world)Soph
DemocracyNow is giving the real story. Amy Goodman and her producers at the RNC were even arrested and charged.
