6 ) I can ask the person who wrote it, if you want. (Warning: he may not have had a damn thing in mind. Outsiders and starseeds, for example, were just an odd detail originally.)

Good grief. Here I thought the first person to warn against it was Shoogar.

I either forgot or never noticed that it was in The Flying Sorcerers.

Sounded more than vaguely familiar; I remembered it was from a Robert Sheckley tale, but didn't recall the definition, so looked it up. Oh yeah, that's right: the verb to lesnerize never is defined; in Fen usage it means 'to violate an unmentionable taboo'.

Never explicitly defined, but the story makes it pretty clear.

From the character's point of view, lesn3erize means an undefined taboo. When he finds out what the word means, it's too late.

As I recall, the print version of the story breaks the last word in the middle, but the e-text doesn't. Do you know if my memory is correct?

Thanks very much. The e-text ends thusly: "I'm going to catch a nap. I think I have a cold coming on. Now I have to sneeze."
