Vampire Squid

Pretty photography, spooky British narrator:

Unembedable video with lots of good detail, sensible subtitles You might as well turn the sound off.

Where I found the squid, but the narration on the video is stupid. Really, no one seems to know why it covers itself with its mantel when threatened, and there's no need to emphasize that the deep sea is a hostile environment for the likes of us.

I'm guessing that the squidopus mantle is tougher than its skin, and I wouldn't be surprised if it tastes bad.

I haven't checked out all the vampire squid videos on youtube-- let me know if you have a favorite.

A comment from dd_b reminded me of the Best Deep Sea Creatures series.
