Bacterial communication

Major point:Your bacteria have you outnumbered and they're talking to each other.

Interesting biology: Detailed description of squid/bacteria symbiosis.

My speculation:On the principle that biology is more complicated, I bet it will turn out that there are multi-species subcommunities of bacteria with their own codes.

I have been thinking a lot lately about the three billion years that this earth was inhabited entirely by bacteria - I wonder how complex the systems were which developed over that time, before more complex organisms predated them?

Then seeing this TED talk was very timely. Very thought provoking.

This is reminding me yet again why I need to go visit the TED site, track down all the videos, and watch/listen until my brain oozes out of my ears.
