Touchable holograms

To my mind, the most interesting thing isn't the holograms, it's the computer-mediated touch, which is done with supersonics somehow. I don't know what the theoretical limits there are, and a fast google didn't turn up anything more on the subject, but if reasonable amounts of pressure and precision are feasible, it's going to be an amazing tech.

I like it. Somebody would have to make touching the impossible possible in order to create a working holodeck, so I guess this is where it would start from. Consider for a sec the change this would make in Waldos, to the blind, and in department store 3D demos. I can hardly wait for the virtual keyboard with scaleable keys, though. That way I could make far fewer typos while writing and not have to clean the dirt off the keys every few weeks. This is, of course, providing the projector elements don't gather dust themselves. Oh, it's always something.

All seeming theoretical limits will fall away like cardboard policemen once people sense that touchable 3D porn might be attainable.
