Pat Robertson favors marijuana legalization
And probably less incarceration generally.

The story-- the legalization issue is a short bit starting at about 3:55.

It's interesting that he uses utilitarian arguments (the prison system is very expensive, recidivism is high, the punishments are disproportionate to the crimes) rather than religious arguments.

My take on it was a simple "that's odd enough to be interesting"-- you can get some discussion here, with the interesting point that Robertson isn't the first to come out in favor of legalization after their career is past its peak.

Compared to the current crop of right-wing fundamentalist crazies, Pat Robertson is practically old school -- he probably at least remembers the days when hardcore Southern Baptists and the like were harder on themselves (no drinking, no dancing, no gambling, no fooling around outside marriage and certainly not with thy neighbor's wife) than they were on their unchurched fellow-citizens.

Temperance does not work. It is the "radical-islam" solution the conservative middle class takes when they feel the culture is flying out of control.
Time for this Other Prohibition to end at last.
