The Mountains of Madness sketch
HPLovecraft notes, with illo

I didn't realize Lovecraft drew that well. No doubt it's easier when you have live models, assuming you can hold on to your sanity.

Link from nwhyte, who mentioned the title as a Mountains of Madness sketch, and inspired del_c to post this:
This shoggoth I purchased not half an hour ago from this very boutique?
- Oh yes, the Antarctic Blue. What's wrong with it?
It's dead, that's what's wrong with it!
- That is not dead which can eternal lie...
Eternity don't enter into it! It's stone dead!

lol - I remember when my brother accused me of being the sort of DM that would make his character roll dice to take a piss...at the time I laughed, but then I went to a baseball stadium for the first time and realized a lot of guys fumble their...rolls.

The grids at the top remind me of https://www.google.com/search?q=d%27arcy+thompson+transformation+grid -- as if for a study of comparative Shoggoth morphology. And Thompson and Lovecraft were contemporaries, huh. (I'm sure it's just crossing out, but it'd be cool.)

Ah, Lovecraft. I remember when he blew my mind in college, and I still see his influence in my work, but the guy really needed a more flexible Muse.
