Sanctions against Cuba lifted (mostly)

This is good news, and I'm hoping ordinary trade and travel between the US and Cuba will be permitted soon.

A rare bit of good news. Keeping Cuba isolated has most likely helped the Castros to stay in power. If Cuba's human rights record were really the reason for the embargo, Saudi Arabia would be far more deserving of sanctions, but oil carries more clout than cigars.

I've decided I don't care whether the sanctions keep the Castros in power (though I might care if sanctions had a clear record of working)-- sanctions are a violation of the rights of Cubans and Americans to trade and travel.
